Two Months Old
Today, at 3pm, I will get my immunization shots. This is because I'm now 2 months old. Papi also had to leave early since it's a long drive back from San Mateo to Santa Clara. We arrived at the Pediatrics Associates in San Jose at 2:45pm. We were early. I was also hungry at that time. So mommy fed me while papi fill out the paperwork. But in the middle of my feeding, I was called. Hmm... I'm still drinking my milk. But mommy had to stop me and we all went into the room and wait for the doctor.
The nurse first measured my height, then the circumference of my head, lastly my weight. I weigh is 12.11lb (75%), height is 23.5" (50-75%), and head circumference is 39cm (25%). After that, we waited for my doctor, Dr. Bryan Drucker. He was recommended by my previous pediatrician, Dr. Eileen Chan. Mommy and papi were debating on feeding me again. But by that time, Dr. Drucker came in. He was really nice to me. Papi gave the medical history to him and he revisited each one of them. Then mommy mentioned about the skin problem on my neck and armpit, and lastly my head. Dr. Drucker said he'll give me some ointment to use for my neck and armpit. He also notice some heat rash on my back. While the head, it's very common cradle cap. Though using special shampoo might work, but it's not necessary. The special shampoo can be painful to my eyes.
Ok, now it's time to get my shots. I was still very happy to see the new doctor and don't know what's coming next. I guess mommy and papi didn't warn me. The next thing I know, the nurse gave me 5 shots!!! Let see, I had the DTap, HIB, eIPV, HEP B, and Prevnar. 3 shots on my right thing, 2 shots on my left thigh. I screamed, but there is no voice. I think I was silent in shock for more than 5 seconds. I was really in pain, more like in shock. Mommy and papi quickly comforted me. Thank God I was ok, but sore. Mommy immediately gave the remainder of the milk for me to finish. After that, I poo and papi change the diaper.
Mommy and papi also prepared to get Tylenol for Infant on the way home. They actually wanted to buy before I get my shots, but there is no Safeway around the area or pharmacy. So in the end, they bought it at Safeway near home. I was sound asleep because I just finished my milk.
When I got home, I started to cry again. I think it's the shots that I got just now. Both my thigh are sore. Well, the left thigh is ok, but my right thigh is all red. Mommy and papi also checked my temperature because they've been warned that I might get a fever. Thank God I didn't get any fever, but my legs are just sore. I cried without any reason and mommy thought I was hungry. But I didn't want to eat. I was sore and uncomfortable. Papi was trying not to give me the Tylenol until the last resort. It is after all medicine. But I was really fussy. I cried non-stop. In the end, papi decided to give me Tylenol, 0.8oz. This is sufficient for my weight. Then and only then I was able to quieten down. I started to relax myself and didn't feel any pain. I slept again after that, like a baby :)
